Creator of the HEART Leadership Framework
For many years as a leader, I avoided what was really going on in my heart. I was too busy producing, solving problems, and leading teams to slow down and pay attention to what was driving me. When things got stressful, I didn’t always act like myself. I defaulted to problem-solving mode—and in the process, I often dismissed people, neglected my own heart, and felt increasingly disconnected from my team. I kept trying to grow in leadership skill, but what I really needed was to grow in self-awareness and emotional maturity.
In 2021, I stepped away from 12 years as a pastor—disillusioned by the pressure to perform and the pace that left no room for reflection or presence. My wife and I sold our house, bought an RV, and spent 8 months traveling the country with our three boys. It was during that season—far from the demands of leadership—that I began to face what I had been avoiding. As I did the deeper work in my heart, something shifted. I became more present, more emotionally honest, and more connected—and I started leading my family differently. That changed everything.
Today, I coach business leaders who want more than just results. They want relationships that thrive, teams that trust, and cultures built on integrity and emotional intelligence. I use a simple, powerful framework called HEART—which helps leaders Hear emotion, Express joy, cultivate Appreciation, stay Relational, and Tune into their true self—so they can lead with clarity, compassion, and conviction.
This work isn’t just something I teach—it’s how I live. In the nonprofit organization I help lead today (Pastor to Pioneer), I show up differently. I slow down. I stay relational even in tension. I lead from a place of peace and joy. And the teams I’m part of are healthier and more connected because of it.
This journey has been deeply personal. It’s the path I’ve walked—through burnout, healing, and transformation. And now I get to walk alongside leaders as they build something more life-giving and sustainable from the inside out.
If you’re ready to lead with your whole heart, I’d love to help you get there.
